I've had 2 instances of when I want to make a folder for all of my lightworks stuff or I want to move around my media folders (from one folder to another) and when I do, I go back to my project and it says "media offline." is there a way to protect all of my imported files (sound, pictures, video) from this happening? I've heard of "bins" but I don't know if that helps in this situation.

Welcome to the forum.

It's probably better to plan your folders before you start your editing workflow, rather than during. This means you don't need to move your media, with the result that Lightworks can't find it.

Please have a look at this video tutorial on media management. Ignore the layout, it works with both layouts available in Lightworks
