3D bevelled cropjwrl3Dbevel.fxDVESeptember 14 2020September 14 2020

This is a crop tool that provides a 3D bevelled border. The lighting of the bevel can be adjusted in intensity, and the lighting angle can be changed. Fill lighting is also included to soften the shaded areas of the bevel. A hard-edged outer border is also included which simply shades the background by an adjustable amount.

X-Y positioning of the border and its contents has been included, and simple scaling has been provided. This is not intended as a comprehensive DVE replacement so no X-Y scale factors nor rotation have been provided.

NOTE: Any alpha information in the foreground is discarded by this effect. It would be hard to maintain in a way that would make sense for all possible needs in any case. This means that wherever the foreground and bevelled border appears will be completely opaque. The background alpha is preserved.

This is the classic glitch effect. To use it just add it on top of your existing effect, select the colours to affect, then the spread and the amount of edge roughness and edge jitter that you need. That really is all that there is to it. You can also control the edge jitter, the glitch rate and angle and the amount of video modulation that is applied to the image. To see it in action, play Glitch_720.mp4.

The effect is built around a delta or difference key. This ensures that the effect can be applied over an existing title, image key or key effect and will usually just automatically extract the foreground to apply the glitch to. Should you need to, adjustments have been provided but it really shouldn't be necessary to touch them.

Should the separation of the foreground from the background not be all that you would wish even after adjustment, you can use the alpha channel of your foreground. If you do that you will need to open the routing panel and manually disconnect any background input to the foreground. The key clip and gain controls then become alpha linearity and unpremultiply settings.

This is an effect that mimics the popular liquify effect in art software. While those perform the distortion by means of warp meshes, this effect instead distorts by means of an offset from a frame reference point. The difference in the end result is slight, if any.

As the screen grab above shows, the edge of the frame can be mirrored, the area outside the frame can be black, or can be made transparent for use in other blend or DVE effects. When in the two latter modes the edge of frame can be softened. Softening does nothing in mirror mode. In the transparent mode shown above, a blend affect has been used to overlay the image over another background.

Schrauber has created a new effect called "Liquify" (Liquify.fx). It mimics the popular liquify effect in art software. While those perform the distortion by means of warp meshes, this effect instead distorts by means of an offset from a frame reference point. This is what it looks like.

The edge of the frame can be mirrored, the area outside the frame can be black, or can be made transparent for use in other blend or DVE effects. When in the two latter modes the edge of frame can also be softened. You will find the effect immediately above this post, and installation instructions can be found here.

The fact that this thread is locked does NOT mean that it is no longer active. There will doubtless be additional effects added and possibly even others removed. It's just the feedback that has been separated out. The size of the thread plus feedback was becoming unwieldy.

In fact even if you just want to talk to us, use the Custom and User Effects feedback. We'd appreciate hearing from you.
