Hello, trying to reduce a transition stutter (just using dissolve throughout the project) and have reduced the output and playback as much as they can go. Have read about and watched youtube videos on rendering, but the rendering button is in the lower right of the version of Lightworks used in the videos.

Would this be a good option for improving transition stutter and how would we go about this in Lightworks 14?

Hi,

Timeline rendering is a pro feature. Try using internal proxies.

To create proxies: Right-click on the source viewer (or onto a selection of clips in Project Contents) and select "Media.Make proxy". Progress bar shows progress.
To enable proxy editing: Click on "Project" upper left hand side to open Project panel and select "Video.Main.Playback media quality" "Lowest availableā€. On export the original files will be used automatically for best possible quality.

I actually have pro. Had to confirm that on my project screen as I know that doesn't show up on my avatar!

So, there is a way to render in pro? Where is the button/menu for that?

Try right clicking on the transition.

With V14.0 timeline rendering is available only in Flexible layout. The button is still there, in Advanced mode of recorder timeline.

With V14.5 timeline rendering is available also in Fixed layout from timeline context menu.

May I suggest considering the purchase of a new graphics card (75 Watt, 100..200 Euro consumer equipment will do) instead of fighting with timeline rendering on simple dissolves against poor performance of Intel HD-Grafik 3000.

I think rendering effects makes more sense for much more complex effects.
With the Pro version you have even more powerful proxy options in LW14.5. This also makes other things faster with good preview quality.

Which media do you use (resolution, frame rate, mp4?)
Which project frame rates?
