Hallo Tim

Nice video, nice pictures and good editing. Interesting culture as well. What I don't like are the subtitles. There are some typos in it (ie. graet instead of great), they are too big and very distracting if you want to concentrate on the pictures. Some titles contain too much to read. I would have done that in white, smaller and always on the same position in the bottom third of the picture.

I dislike subtitles in general but in this case the information you give is quite interesting with a lot of background info, so this is a must.

Just my opinion, beside that: Gut gemacht, sehr interessant ! (Well done, very interesting !)

Hi Dieter,

thanks a lot for your prompt feedback.

Yeah, guess you are right about the titles, I was quite in a rush with them, trying some kind of 'arty' look, but as you also noticed, my attempt failed in some point.

Maybe I will rearrange the titles as you suggested, or even replace them with speaker comments

...on a funny side-note: In India you always get great ambient sound, because it's always and everywhere loud enough

Cheers,
Tim

Hi Tim

Yes, a nice voice-over commentary would be very helpful, so the viewer can concentrate on the pictures.

And yes, I noticed the ambient noise, quite interesting. There seems to be always someone who plays some sort of instrument, not to mention the other voices and noises.

In one of my videos I tried to add titles as well but did it in between takes with a black screen, like in the old quiet movies (I faded them in and out quickly). So you can be sure to have the attention of the viewer as well as highten the curiosity of the things to come. There are so many ways to add comments to a film ... I'm working on footage from a Canada trip at the moment, facing the same problem

...ok, it's done

Now with voice-over comments, but since YouTube still does not allow exchanging footage, with a new URL as well:

Enjoy.

Wow, you're quick

Much better now, enjoyed watching it, well done. About the commentary - that's not easy for a german, is it ? But you did very well.

Looking forward to your videos.

Thanks for your praises, and yeah you're right, we just cannot hide our true nature
But that is ok, and French, Italian and oh so may others have the same stumple-talking except they stay in EN or US for a long time

I have to agree with others. The voice-over just made your video waaaaay better!

The titles not only didn't look good - they were very distractive. Now with the voice-over, the whole video suddenly looked more professional and more pleasant to watch. It sort of divided the experience into segments. Thanks to the voiceover, I never found myself starting to get bored by the constant ambient noise - which I did in the old version.

Great job!

Btw what equipment (camera, microphone) did you use?

I enjoyed the video. I don't find the accent distracting. Quite contrary, I find it engrossing. It's a colorful world

Did you do the voice-over in LWKS or externally?

Hey friends

I'm really greatful about your feedback, thank you so much.

OK, so here's some more technical stuff:
The camera I used here and most of the time for travelling is the handy one, a Panasonic HDC-SD100.
The built-in microphone does a great job, while shooting I use the 5.1 setting.

About the voice-over, here I was using an AKG C 451 B microphone for the recording and Cubase for equalizing and compressing the whole stuff.
Afterwards I was importing both voice-over and the film into PowerDirector (I might have used Lightworks as well), put the audio at the right place and exported it to MPEG4.

Cheers,
Tim
