Editing work 3 weeks ago #214152

Are there any websites that list edit houses that
support Lightworks?
Thanks,
Adrian

Hello,

I'm not aware of any list of that kind on the internet, not for Lightworks, not for any other professional NLE. That doesn't mean that none exist, others might know some.

As a matter of interest what do you mean saying "support Lightworks"?

Well, Lightworks is sadly, rarely mentioned in posts I receive concerning work
opportunities. I guess the question should really be 'Is it feasible to enter
a work environment that stipulates Premiere, Final Cut (?) or Avid as the nominated system but operate from the Lightworks platform without mind-bending
issues in terms of interface, codecs etc?'

If you wish to work in post houses they will probably be using one of the three "A"s, which one can depend on the location and the sector of the industry you're working in. Since they're equipped with a particular brand, you'd be expected to use it, unless you've been brought in as the name editor for a particular project and they'll be working around you.

Lightworks can export interface files that allows you to use other programs for different parts of the workflow.

Thanks. What are the three 'A's?

You've mentioned the Three A's already, Adobe Premiere, Avid Media Composer, and Apple Final Cut.

This guy adds a forth one:

That one is getting increasing share, but I suspect most post houses still use the traditional makes. There's a large pool of editors experienced with the "A"a and the favoured brand tends to have a tight grip for editing in a particular sector. Although, freelance editors probably need to have a working knowledge of at least a couple of NLEs these days.
