Graded or ungraded, David? It looks pretty good, regardless. I'm just curious.

Ungraded. Testing new firmware with a much improved color matrix. In camera white balance set to D5000. Prores 4444 DI exported from Raw4Pro from the CDNG original.

It's like getting a new camera.

Ungraded? Then it's not just pretty good. It's beautiful.

Yeah, the Digital Bolex has a KODAK CCD - not a CMOS. The Kodak has by far the best colour balance and depth. None of that stale stuff you get from Panasonic ... For grading just keep the saturation low. I have used it, and its precursors, for many years. There's nothing like it. Hope they still keep developing it (that Kodak sensor) for future generations of cameras.

I love the rich color palette this sensor can produce. It easily exceeds REC709 gamut and fully covers DCI-P3. Had a Sony 4k laser projector in house for a demo a couple of weeks ago. I could see minor issues with my color grading that aren't visible on my 8-bit LG monitor. I need a better monitor!
Dialing in the analog sensor calibration is apparently quite complex. I keep sending Bolex's chief engineer sample footage and he keeps sending me fine tweak updates to the firmware. He saw some minor issues in this video and sent me a new update the next day. Haven't had a chance to try that one yet. How many camera makers write custom tuned firmware for individual cameras?

Yeah, and add to it that with the CCD there's no banding and no shutter jelly. I don't think you can do any better within today's state of the art.
