Hi

I'm a newby, please help...

I've been following steps in Lightworks v14 - Quick Start Guide

& am trying to create a transition between clips.

But I keep getting error message:
"insufficient incoming & outgoing media"

Pls see screen shot - any idea how I can resolve this?

Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

Please check out this sticky. It covers overlapping media and gives solutions.

Hello,

By nature, an inline transition mixes frames of the segments left and right of the cut. To be able to do that, frames must exist in the incoming and outgoing segments which are not visible in the timeline, i.e. cut off.

The message about insufficient media indicates that you have butted two clips without cutting off any material, i.e. there are no frames the transition can use for the mix. To fix this for a centered transition, you have to shorten the segments on either side of the cut by at least half of the frames the transition needs to work, e.g. for a transition of 30 frames, at least 15 frames on either side.

Hope this makes sense.

I've been struggling with this one as well. Now I understand! Thanks for that explanation.

Thanks Hugly

I'm such a newby to this that I'm still wrapping my head around terminology & basic LWKS functions - so your detailed explanation is appreciated.

I'll have a go at shortening the segments on either side of the cut by at least half of the frames the transition needs to work.

These LWKS forums are a huge asset!

Cheers
