Hi.

I've done this before and can't figure out how!

I have a PNG file that I believe is the right size (1920 x 1080 px) - in any event, that's the size of the one that worked.

I have verified that it really DOES have a transparent background by copying it into a document with a colored background.

When I import it into my project and place it into the sequence, the background is black, not transparent.

I've searched the forum and documentation everywhichway I can, and I don't see anything that applies.

Help, please! and thank you.

Add a blend effect to the PNG or import it using the image key effect. There are a lot of references on these forums to transparency with blends/DVEs and image effects.

To step through the process:

  1. Put your background in V2.
  2. Put your foreground in V1.
  3. Apply a blend effect to V1. You will find that in the "Mix" category.
  4. Done.

Stepping through the process if you want to use the image key effect (in the "Key" category):

  1. Put your background in V1.
  2. Apply an image key effect to V1.
  3. Click on "Choose a File.." and navigate to the transparent graphic that you wish to use.
  4. Adjust position and scale as required.

That second technique deals with the graphic at its native resolution, so is useful if your graphic doesn't match your project size.

THANK YOU!

The blend effect worked perfectly (of course).

MUCH appreciated.

Making copious notes so I don't lose this how-to again!
