I am not sure about the reason for the existence of the fold and unfold options to display a parallel FX timeline. However since I discovered it and used it I find that transitions are messed up as the FX dont apply suddenly to a few frames. I can work around it by folding most clips again and things are fine - but I have few clips in the timeline where the fold options is simply not presenting itself.

How to fix this?

Thanks

Are you using the V14.6 beta? If so, please update to the latest build.

Make sure that the effects to be folded in the FX tracks have exactly the same length as the video segment in which these effects are to be inserted (frame-accurate, without transition).
After folding, the folded effect also works during the transition (selectively on the respective segment).

Note that the current Beta 14.6 is still unstable during certain folding operations.

Thanks. If the FX are smaller than the V1 will it work? I tried getting the exact length then gave up after a while then and manually closed all FX the gaps over the transitions, now it doesnt look bad.

I use 14.5

No, not smaller, but exactly the same segment length from cut to cut.
Helpful is using the buttons or shortcuts to jump to the next or previous cut.

Theoretically, I could also imagine an automatic system that generates / adjusts the corresponding keyframing when folding shorter or longer effects. Best for many segments at once.
But that would be a new feature request, and I'm afraid this would be difficult to implement.

From you initial post I understand that you see two problems:

1. The command 'Unfold' is missing on some segments.
2. When unfolding effects next to a transitions, the transition is affected.

The first is unexpected behaviour if folded effects are present on the segment you right-click on.
Some more information would be needed on that, because your screenshot doesn't show any folded effects.

The second is caused by the fact that folded effect apply to the entire clip, including parts not visible in the timeline and consequently also to the overlap used by the transition, whereas unfolded effects apply to their visible length. That's expected behaviour.
It's better to travel well than to arrive...
