I'm very new to editing and this software, and I'm sure this is a very basic problem, but I've spent a long time collecting and editing footage, and deleted all of the audio intentionally, intending to replace it with other audio, but now I don't know how to create a new A1 and A2 audio track in order to add new audio. I only have V1. Thanks

Hello,

In Edit, Log, or VFX mode, press <Backspace> to open the 'Add Tracks' panel, choose 'Type', 'Number to add', and 'Location', and hit 'Add'.

The same panel is accessible from 'Sequence Commands.Tracks.Add multiple..' after right clicking on the timeline.
It's better to travel well than to arrive...

Since you can assign keys to Lightworks commands, I have assigned "Add audio track" to Ctrl+U and "Add video track" to Ctrl+Y. It's much more convenient than playing around with menus.

If you want to do something similar, click on the cogs icon at the top right of the entry screen and select "Key assignments..". Don't go over the top though. You need to be able to remember those non-standard assignments to get any benefit from them.

Glad to be able to help.

One thing that I didn't mention in my earlier post is the "Add tracks" command. It opens a dialogue box which gives you the choice of how many tracks you want to add, where you want to put them, and what type they are. It's already assigned to the backspace key, but I have given it a second assignment to Ctrl-Alt-Y. To me it makes more sense to have it there because backspace is a delete function, not an addition one, which is what you want to do with "Add tracks".

To the other users who posted an interesting discussion here on default key assignments, I have split that off to Change "Add track" default key? in the Feature Requests forum.
