"double lut prob."

www.lwks.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=view&catid=12&id=141437&Itemid=81

so if a lut is added as an "fx", the frames are rendered with that LUT, not the viewing lut. all other segments still use the "project's viewing lut" if set "on" and "ticked".

Sorry, but I can't find the "tick".

the "green light" in the proj > settings is ok,
if you use the export panel now, you get that option to use that lut on export too...

I shoot 4K log but I made my own 'look' in Davici and exported it as .cube LUT which I use as a 'viewing Lut' in Lightworks. Once edited, I export only the AAF/EDL then grade the original footage in Resolve. Works a treat!

My rule of thumb: If I don't know exactly what a LUT is designed for and where to use it (and where not), I don't use it. In particular, that's true for the S-curve LUT delivered with Lightworks.

I believe in dangerous experiments. Try something to see what it does. If it blows up, no big deal.
But like Craig, i mostly create my own LUTs in Resolve.

As I understand it, the 'Viewing LUT' feature of Lightworks is simply that: a Viewing template over the top of your files so that if you have shot Log, you don't have to edit with a dull & lifeless picture. If you are completing a Project inside and Delivering from Lightworks, I recommend that you use the Viewing LUT only for the initial (proxy?) Edit then Grade your material manually for sRGB (or Rec.709 if you have a Decklink card installed with a calibrated reference monitor) using the Lightworks Scopes and Colour Correction tools provided.

Craig

You mention that LW's Viewing LUT is only for viewing and if you export your sequence shot in LOG, the LUT will not be seen over your footage. Is this correct? I will then assume the same results will happen if you add LUT's to the viewing panel as shown in the attached screen shot. So the only way to color correct is to use LW's Color Correction and tools provided?

Thanks
Vince

Vince,

No and no - lghtwrks has shown how to use the viewing LUT on export earlier and the programs has an effect to apply 3D LUTs which affect preview and export, it's called 3D LUT.

Hugly & Craig

I forgot to attach the screen shot of LW's LUT and another company's LUT. So much Forum info flows back and forth and I must have missed the Viewing LUT Export directions. I will search for it.

Thank you
Vince

See attached screen shot. Where is the option to use the LUT on Export?

the "green light" in the proj > settings is ok,
if you use the export panel now, you get that option to use that lut on export too...

With Viewing LUT enabled in project card and recorder present, press F2, export panel opens, check "Use project viewing LUT".

Doesn't that work for you with RC6?

Ahh, now I see it.

That doesn't exist with Youtube export - intended or not, I don't know. Please use h.264/MP4 instead.
