Greetings

I did some test shots on the Atomos Ninja Inferno and the ProRes playback is excellent. I imported the footage into LW's and the footage looks horrible. I am not sure why, but I need to get this resolved for my Saturday shoot. See attached.

Thank you for your support
Vince

Whether it's Mac or Windows might be relevant, anyway if you have a short sample you could send via WeTransfer that would be very helpful,

Hi Vince,

Just in case, if you created h.264 proxies, Cineform 720p medium proxies will bring you to the next level of viewing experience.

Reducing Output format to 720p will take load from your CPU for more performance when editing. You can export to UHD nevertheless.

For my taste, the colors of the preview LUT don't look nice.

.. Apologies fishmonger, I missed your post while typing.

FYI I played Coffee and the footage looks 1000's better than my footage. Can you send link to WeTransfer please.
Thanks

I am working off the SSD. RE LUT, I used the LW's default as a test.

Vince,

What does your panel show?

Could this be the issue? I have never had to change this before but the settings do not look optimal. What should I set this on? The footage is 4K.

Turn off the viewing LUT. You probably don't need one at this stage unless you are recording log footage in which case you need the correct color space conversion lut for it.

First, delete the existing proxies, set proxy format to Cineform 720p medium as shown and create them again. You will see a significant improvement of quality in preview.

Sorry David,

Vince said he uses Create Link as import method. It is not posible to transcode UHD media and it makes no sense when the source is ProRes422 HQ placed on a SSD.

Hugly

I shot the test footage in log, that's why I was also testing LW's default LUT. Suggestions?

I am going to test new footage at my home and import into a new project.

That's all so confusing.

Set the proxies as I've shown and see if you like the quality.
