Hi,

did anybody notice this issue in Firefox (latest version 58.0.2)?
Note that I did not zoom, so zoom level is default - 0.
In Internet Explorer I don't have this.

I noticed it depends on the font. On most of the other websites I don't see this issue.

Not here.

Maybe hardware acceleration? support.mozilla.org/de/questions/1179694

Another factor might be nVidia drivers. I can't see the issue with Firefox 58.0.2 on Windows 10. The font renders in a similar way to IE11 and Edge still not as good as Chrome.

nVidia drivers 388.59

I just updated to the latest NVidia driver (391.01 on GeForce GTX 860M) but the issue still is there.
I also have to say the look depends a lot on the Windows-internal zoom level (Ctrl + mouse wheel).

Normal (no zoom):

Zoomed it's clear:

I wouldn't insist so much on this topic if the font in a reasonable zoom level wouldn't be hardly readable

For what it's worth, I had this problem some time back when I was running W7 on my work system, but there the browser was Chrome. So it was an entirely different configuration but gave the same result. My workaround was to zoom in slightly as you've just demonstrated. I have never seen the problem with W10 though.

FWIW

I've attached a screen recording showing scaling with Firefox 58.02 on Windows 10. Please watch in full screen mode.

I see no difference on Windows 7. It's very likely that you see a phenomenon local to your system, timzett.

Have you changed default display size of fonts or do you use a display with resolution different from 1920x1080? You have two computers, do both show the same problem?

Thanks for the video.

My font/system/video settings in Windwos are all on default.

I will have to try this on my second machine, to see if there's a difference to what I see here.
To be continued...

This thread (from 2016) looks relevant still:
support.mozilla.org/it/questions/1115938

I would try, in this order:
> test-disable all add-ons
> about:config - font_r settings
> full uninstall and reinstall of latest video drivers
> roll back video driver
