Hi all,

Looking to buy a new MacBook Pro 15" for use with Lightworks, but found that Apple has switched to Radeon (AMD) graphics for the mid-2015 model. Will this machine be appropriate for Lightworks, or would the old version with Nvidia graphics be a better choice?

My work is almost exclusively offline (DNxHD 36). Any advice would be much appreciated!

Both, AMD & Nvidia do work. To my knowledge Lightworks does not use GPU-specific instruction sets like CUDA. Since my switch from NVIDIA to AMD I haven't seen any kind of performance penalty either.
There are three kinds of people - those who can count and those who can't...

I just purchased a new mid-2015 MacBook Pro and it's terrific. Lightworks boots up extremely fast and performs very smoothly. It's my first time using an AMD graphics card and I don't see any difference as yet (I haven't tried any extreme effects layering or multicam, however.)

I just got a Macbook Pro 13.3 w/ Retina Display (i5 2.9 - 512GB model)

I do not have dedicated graphics and even though Lightworks will load, it is not usable as playback is horrific. I am hoping this is some kind of bug, but my gut feeling is that if you do not have dedicated graphics, you won't be able to use Lightworks.

I just tried using Lightworks on my 2008 Mac Pro that does have dedicated graphics and I ended up with the same problem. So now I am wondering if there is a software issue?

The video file is a mpeg-4 movie. 1080p60
It is recorded on the canon camcorder in that format.
I think it uses h.264

The usual issue is simply not having hardware that is beefy enough to run Lightworks effienctly. Compressed hd1080p is particularly computer intensive to edit.
