TOPIC: cheap hdmi video capture devices on amazon?

Re: cheap hdmi video capture devices on amazon? 4 weeks ago #225599

I'm looking at similar devices so I can transfer old footage from a Canon HV30 mini DV camera into Lightworks.

I'm researching this gadget:

www.clearclick.tech/products/hd-capture-box-platinum-capture-video-from-hdmi-rca-av-vga-ypbpr-vhs-vcr-dvd-camcorders-hi8

It looks like it can take not only HDMI but a host of older technology.

The devices mentioned may allow one to record media to a computer, that would then need to be imported into LW. That video file would need to be compatible with LW importable formats. The devices most likely will not record directly to LW. To accomplish that requires a LW compatible combined I/O card (not an I only card) and a Pro or EDU Licence.

There is reference to Hardware I/O devices near the bottom of this page.

EDIT: Others may have better/more information but probably the BMD Intensity Shuttle would be the lowest cost compatible device.

Intensity Shuttle is no longer available from BMD. They have other more expensive and more up to date 4k capable options.
I have an Intensity Shuttle. It is recognized by Lightworks for both input and output.

While it would be nice to import direct into lightworks I think I can handle porting with another program, then importing into lightworks.

The cheap hdmi capture device I linked is a usb uvc class compatible device, so it work without drivers.

I'm not sure on reasons to support only high end devices when lwks doesn't actually sell a capture device. Apart from the simple fact that device support is costly to develop.

Seems to be quite a healthy supply on the interweb - perhaps a good time to grab one? Seem to be in stock at bhphotovideo and Amazon.

The one user Christopher Ian is looking at sells for $30 less - on that basis grabbing an Intensity Shuttle seems a No Brainer.
