Many users have been through this, and it can happen to anyone, so it's good to prevent.

Just make a backup (right now!) of the folder "Effect Templates", which is located at:

Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Lightworks\
Windows Vista & 7:

If you accidentally overwrite an effect, do the following:

1 - Don't worry
2 - Open the file "Templates.Cache" with notepad (it is located at the "Effect Templates" folder) and find the name of the overwritten effect. Next to the FX's name you'll find the name of the .fxt file for the effect you want to retrieve (i.e. "blend"). See attached screengrab:

3 - Replace the .fxt file with the backup.
4 - Be happy

Note: If you did this with Lightworks open, you'll have to restart LW.
