Hi, I subscribed to a month PRO version of Lightworks last month but now it's time to go back to the free version. I couldn't get it and I was being directed to buy another subscription (which I can't afford right, and I don't really the the PRO).
So I uninstalled the LW program and downloaded the program again it's not installing at all. Can someone please suggest some remedy?

Didm't Lightworks revert to the free version, which just involved you signing in again?

When you open Lightworks after the License expires you should open with the the sign in.

The installation and activation guide says:

"Type your User name and Password into the Lightworks Welcome screen, and then click Continue."

When the pro license window appears, .

"If you are activating a Free license, a promotion window for Lightworks Pro opens.
Click Continue to clear the window"

Shut down Lightworks, then reopen it again.

Hi Brian
I've been trying to reinstall Lightworks again and again but it always stalls and comes up with the same message (attached).
Maybe it's because I uninstalled the previous installation, maybe that's why it's not working properly.
Can you please help me with this problem?
Thanks Aldo

OMG

This never ending story with vcredist errors with formerly working installations is a pain.

Isn't there anybody in development who can provide a reliable procedure to fix all those?

Aldo55,

In this discussion you'll find most of what we know about the issue: www.lwks.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=view&catid=21&id=172973&Itemid=81#172973

If you wish, try this suggestion first: www.lwks.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=view&catid=21&id=172973&limit=15&limitstart=15&Itemid=81#173028

Hi Hugly,
Nothing is working, I even downloaded the V14.5 but it did the same thing.
I'm going to complete clean everything about FW and then reinstall the free V14.

Hi,

Basically the issue is a Windows problem, but I suspect after all that most incidents with Lightworks are somehow triggered by de-installing and installing Lightworks, but I don't know what happens and how to fix.

When cleaning please make sure that you DO NOT DELETE the Lightworks user folder
C:\Users\Public\Documents\Lightworks

There's a registry key which has to be (and can be safely) deleted:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Lightworks

If the process should be successful, please delete all license files from Lightworks directory, in order to force a new login. Your initial problem might be caused by exactly those license files.

No, this will not fix the vcredist issue, you've encountered.

To cleanup a standard installation manually:

1. Restart your computer to unlock possibly locked files.
2. Delete the installation folder, by default this is for 64-bit Lightworks
C:\Program Files\Lightworks
3. Delete the registry key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Lightworks
4. Install V14.0 to default destination (watch out for error messages when installing)
C:\Program Files\Lightworks
5. Start Lightworks and see what happens.

I'm not sure that this will fix the existing vcredist issue, but who knows?

You could try unchecking the 3 Microsoft vcredist options when installing.

Note that there is nothing in the Lightworks folders containing anything to do with the vcredist install so deleting those won't help.

Error code 5 is 'Access Denied' so perhaps antivirus software is interfering.
