Hello,

In the previous version of lightworks you were able to move the sequence timeline along by holding a clip over the far left of the timeline (where the tracks are listed) or the far right of the timeline (where the advanced information is listed). This was of extreme use when editing movie reviews and what not as you're often finding very small snippets of footage to sync with audio in order to back up statements made.

This dragging method does not appear to work since the version 14 update, is there a way to re-enable it?

I'm using the X64 version on a Windows 7 computer.

Not completely sure what you mean - perhaps as in the attached from V14 Flexible??

I never used this method, but I can see that it doesn't work as you describe.

Alternatively, have you tried to grab the zoom bar (below last audio track) slightly zoomed-in with the mouse, keeping left-mouse button down, zoom with Ctrl+mouse-wheel and pan moving the mouse left and right? Would that help?

EDIT: Echo wasn't intended, RWAV, you beat me on it while I was typing.

The issue is not moving the sequence along period, but moving the sequence along while moving a clip within said sequence. In the previous version you could move the timeline (like shown in the video) by hovering the clip you're moving over the far left, or far right of the timeline.

It was helpful because if you're moving a 5-second clip down the timeline by about 20 minutes it is next to impossible to find the black 'move' arrow for the 5-second clip while zoomed out far enough that 20 minutes later or earlier is displayed on the timeline.

Edit: Which meant that I could instead simply hover the clip over the left until the sequence moved along until the point I wanted to insert the clip with the audio voice-over.

Yes, that does seem to be an omission.

Are you talking about drag and dropping a clip to insert at a different location in the timeline bu using the shift key?

Unfortunately, this currently seems to be broken, it works fine in V12.6, but there seems to be a regression in the release V14.

You can either use the keyboard method, which is fast and accurate.

Mark and park the clip - use either the "a" & "s" keys to locate the in point "i" and the playhead park point. Or use the mouse scroll wheel.

Delete the clip "x"

Position the playhead at the new location.

Use "f" to insert the clip into the timeline.

Or

Locate the playhead where you wish to relocate the clip.

Drag the clip into the sequence viewer.

The clip will insert ar the playhead.

Right click on the gap left after removing the clip to open menu. Click on close gap.

Yup, that's what I meant!

Thank you so much for all of your replies, and thank your for the suggestion of the keyboard method Briandrys. It seems to be doing the job for me

Good to hear.

Most professional editors prefer the keyboard method, I've reported this in the bug section.
