Hi all,
Just looking for a hint here- I still find the Lightworks layout rather confusing.
I've made my project, and can make it into a file nicely, no problem...except I can't find a way to trim the end, so that once the audio and video have finished, I have another three minutes of blank nothing at the end of my file. I'm stumped, could somebody help me out here?

Also, I find the click-to-move function very frustrating to use, half the time it won't move my clips elsewhere in the timeline, instead it stretches the start or end of them instead. Am I clicking in the wrong spot of the clip, or not using a function properly? I was wanting to shuffle the order of some clips, but had to give up as all I was succeeding in doing was continually stretching and shrinking the clips instead.

Mark+park the black area and hit "Delete" to remove it.

Click the very middle of the clips otherwise you "Unjoin" the clip, by clicking close to either ends, and start to trim it.

'Mark and park'? I've tried clicking in the black bits and pressing 'delete', but there's infinite black timeline still there after my clips end...

You have to Mark and park. Place the playhead at the beginning of the black area, press "In" on the "on screen console" (Mark), move to the end of the black area and stay there (Park), now press 'Delete'.

Also, make sure all video and audio tracks are on before you mark and park (and FX tracks).

The way I get rid of the black at the end is to move the playhead to the end of the black, Unjoin ALL tracks on the end and than click the jump to cut button on the console (the little button that looks something like this "|<-").

See the video tutorial category of the forum.

Here is a short video tutorial explaining the meaning of mark and park.

And here is video tutorial explaining how to move footage around in the timeline.

mark/park/delete worked for me but only when I deleted empty A2 audio track first.

For future reference, it's quite possible/probable that your A2 track was disabled. It's imperative that ALL tracks are enabled (ie. the track selector button is lit up).

I've tried Mark/Park/Delete, but whenever I click delete it just closes the project. I'm completely new to Lightworks, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

You will find in the key assignment panel that the function "delete" is controlled by the shortcut "x".
