Apps control whether you record in stereo or multi-channel vs mono when interfaced to external equipment.

Regarding the price and it's feature, this Sure MV88 seems o be an interesting device for Vloggers.

I just found that starting with iOS 14, released September 19 2020, stereo recording is possible even with build-in microphones on supporting devices, which my old iPhone sadly is not:

developer.apple.com/documentation/avfoundation/avaudiosession/capturing_stereo_audio_from_built-in_microphones
It's better to travel well than to arrive...

Pro version of the MS stereo mic.

www.shure.com/en-US/products/microphones/vp88

My dream mic for general field recording would be a Pearl MS-stereo mic if I could afford one. The sound from one of those has to be experienced on a good high end monitor system to really appreciate its quality. More like $3k price range. Missed a bid on a used one on Ebay a few years ago for $1100. Can't justify buying a mic that cost more than one of our old Jaguars.

I just ordered the Shure MV88 for my iPhone 11 (not the Mv88+). The mono bidirectional preset in the Motiv app seems to be best for interacting/interviews (se photo). The front is off then, only capturing both sides. I'm lazy and I want the same settings all the time so when shooting just myself talking I hope this preset will be good enough... I also ordered the Rycote Windjammer for MV88 and it's supposed to be put over the kit foam.
