This will probably seem like a dumb question but I have to make sure - does lightworks automatically save your project when you exit/close the programme?

I already did some stuff in lightworks and it always saved when I just cliked close but this is the first time I'm actually doing something important and I really can't lose it.

So, do i have to do anything? Do I have to make a copy? Can I be sure that the project will be saved everytime I close the programme or the programme crashes?

Lightworks autosaves, but you can also do a manual back up. Open the project menu on the top left corner of the screen, beside the box with the arrow. Under the details you'll see the make backup button.

You'll see it on P118 in the V14.5 User Guide found in downloads > documentation

I often tell people that...

IMO, the dumb thing is to NOT ask the question.
I work in Manhattan, USA, but at night I cross the waters to sleep in Brooklyn, USA.

Also, post production is not an afterthought!

Agreed. Although there's another version: there's no such thing as dumb questions, only dumb answers.
