So an Outside Broadcast company I used to work for used to use Lightworks VIP and owned a console or two. I was down there working today and I asked politely if they them still. So we went down to the memorabilia shelf (under an inch of dust) and bingo, one mark 2 console!
It hasn't been used since High Def came into use and its probably the same console that I learnt Lightworks on. I didn't find the power supply though, so questions please... One, what does the power supply look like? I can have another hunt about on the dusty shelf. Two, does anyone have an old power supply that they don't use anymore? Three, in the case that one and two don't yeild fruit, does anyone know the pin layout and has anyone had success mocking up a power supply? Cheers peeps. Don't know the pinout details or the 'type' of connector. - maybe can have a look.

Thanks a lot.
I'd be surprised if the power supply is still there. The 'memorabilia' shelfs are a wasteland of kit and cameras the OB company doesn't use anymore. If I had a dollar I'd bet it's still in their old VT truck that the Lightworks VIP was installed in and apparently they sold that truck to another company in Greece! I'll have another dig around next weekend when I'm back there. |

This is another one

I revived an old mark 1 console which I still use. That had no external power supply connector at all so I fitted one, and I now use a 12 volt 1 amp external supply. It has worked reliably for several years.
Given that the mark 1 had more electronics than the mark 2, I would be amazed if you needed a 2.7 amp supply. If RWAV can find the pinouts for you it shouldn't be a major challenge to find a power supply that will work. |

Hopefully the SCL25-7612 above that I've sourced will do the trick.
Next step will actually get it up and running ... one step at a time.. ![]() |

You're in luck - my engineer is in town tomorrow - he'll should be able to make a bare wire test lead today (if he has a matching DIN socket on hand) and should be able come over to do the measurements.
Should have some details in the following day or so. |

Thank you so much. I've actually managed to locate the power supply you've pictured on eBay. So you can stand the engineer down. Looks like I'll have a working power supply in the next couple of weeks.

Very much one step at a time - he can't recall the exact details and maybe even it was some other power supply from me - but my engineer has a memory of both 12v and 5v outputs being used on the connector. ![]() Please see the attached. The .pdf document has the pinouts for a din plug - so probably all that is needed. |
