I thought that mk1 consoles don't work with 64bit version operating systems.
Mk1 consoles have not been working on 64bit systems with no Native serial port. With a native onboard serial port the console works.

Alright so if i upgrade the operating system to windows 7 64bit and upgrade the hardrive and processor i have from a previous computer i have would that suffice? It has a native serial port.

Could you try it before upgrading? That would let you know if it is worth the investment.

You will need to contact Editshare to get the appropriate driver for a 64-bit system. On the two motherboards that have RS-232 that I've tried the console works under W7 64-bit.

Hi DJFJEKETE

FYI

A VGA Port as in what is on your laptop is used to connect a display type monitor it is generally 15 Pin type DB connector. Used to carry video, Sync, information to a monitor.

An RS 232 port is a serial communications port and is usually 9 pin DB type connector. Used to communicate with things such as Modems, VTR machines, Edit Controllers and the like.

The two are not in any way similar to the signals that are transmitted from either.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Ronnie
