I purchased a Contour Shuttle Pro v2 many years ago, to use on Windows machines for video and audio work. I am now trying out Lightworks (free version) on Linux Mint, and I plugged my Shuttle in (somewhat hopefully) and nothing. Linux doesn't seem to acknowledge it and it has no effect tapping the buttons/jog wheel etc. I see Contour do not provide any linux drivers for it despite the fact that it seems most of their customers are using linux (forums.contourdesign.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=14). Any pointers on getting it working would be great. Thanks!

You may find ShuttlePro V2 on Fedora helpful. I know that you're running Mint, but there may be something there for you. There is a also a thread called ShuttlePROv2 working with Linux ! that you may have missed.

[EDIT] By the way, thanks for moving this from the "Bugs" forum. However, I've moved it again, as you've doubtless noticed. This is probably going to be a more helpful location for you.

Hi thanks for the reply. The second link you posted I had seen, but it's out of date and software it points to is no longer available. I will see if I get any joy from the first (Fedora) link.

The second link is a topic that I started. I went through it and I also saw that something is missing. But I think that you need this link where you can download a zip file: github.com/nanosyzygy/ShuttlePRO/archive/master.zip
I have a text file with all kind of important stuff that I need to install the software I need. That link was in that file
I hope this helps and thanks for mentioning the missing link.

Thanks I found your file and I'm on my way! I am editing the file but found it very useful as a template. Please tell me what the 'S' lines represent e.g. S-7 XK_J etc.

Thanks, I worked out what the 'S' was for soon after I posted - the clue is in the name of the hardware D'oh! I couldn't get the shuttle control to work with your 'S' settings above, but it works ok with your original file settings.

I changed my Key Assignments in Lightworks for the Play(10% to 1000%) commands and these belong now to my S settings.

Hello,

I found good advices in this thread and could get my shuttlePro working on Linux Mint with Lightworks.

There is still something which frustrates me a bit. From the videos I could watch in the Lightworks tutorial section, it seems that with Windows (and Mac?) there is the possibility to press several keys on the shuttlePro and get different behaviors ? Like some keys on the shuttlePro act as modifiers ? Is this right ?

I think the Linux software is only able to manage a binding of the kind:
1 shuttlePro key -> one or more "simulated" key strokes on Linux
which prevents using some shuttlePro keys as modifiers...

This limits a bit the possibilities (which are already very satisfying).

Has anyone been through the C code in the package ? I did twice but still have some parts I don't understand clearly.. And it also doesn't seem obvious to add the modifier key feature for the shuttlePro.

I wrote a new driver, in Go, that handles modifier keys. It really augments de ShuttlePRO on Linux.

github.com/abourget/shuttle-go

There's a release page with a binary pre-built. You can easily build from source with the Go toolchain.

HI,
Unfortunately the M1 and M2 key are not detected by shuttle-go anymore. Maybe Contour has changed the keycodes because with the recent windows-driver all buttons are working well.

Using usbmon the following codes are triggered:

F1 00d40001 00
F2 00d40002 00
F3 00d40004 00
F4 00d40008 00
F5 00d40010 00
F6 00d40020 00
F7 00d40040 00
F8 00d40080 00
F9 00d40000 01

M1 00d40000 20
M2 00d40000 40

B1 00d40000 08
B2 00d40000 02
B3 00d40000 04
B4 00d40000 10

Kind regards
Harald
