How can the playback speed be changed in the video preview without affecting the actual speed of the clip/sequence?

Hello and welcome!

You can use J K L keys.

L-key for playback, J-key for reverse playback, and K-key to stop playback. Pressing J and L more than once or holding those key down accelerates playback speed upto +/- 400%. Beyond that you can assign various "Play" commands to keyboard shortcuts from -1000& to +1000%.

Please note: Depending on your hardware, for fluent accelerated playback of HD footage I-frame based video formats or usage of proxies might be needed.

I'm also having this issue, thanks for responding, hugly.

For me the J & L only increases the playback speed. Is there a way to decrease the playback speed that you know of?

Thanks,
Tom

Yes. There are low speed pre-sets in the Shortcuts menu which can be mapped to any spare key on yr keyboard or better still, to your USB Jog/Shuttle controller.

Hey Craig,

68 freely programmable keys including mouse click emulation is what men need to control the monster nowadays, right?

The grandfathers had been happy with a only a few, back in times.
