the project "Old Grand Dad club Nederland" is ok, the edit is without any issue. A check brings yellow and a fix gives "no need fixing". Cheers, Wim

Wim, if the check shows yellow but your edit has no offline media, it's possible somewhere in a bin is a shot not being used that shows offline. Search the project for clips and see if there is a stray offline clip. It's also possible you deleted a clip from a bin but the database still lists it (I think when you delete a clip in a project, the link file gets deleted but it stays listed in the database until you exit Lightworks and re-enter the project. I may be wrong about this.

Add the name of the clip that's being checked to the progress box. This will probably be the last change for a while (my real job is calling).

Hi everybody,

I was working on a project, when my external HD lost connection with the laptop and since then all my edits and clips went "media offline"..

I searched for a solutiom, checked the forum, found this thread after some time, installed the LW project Fixer, clicked my project to be fixed, the Fixer did its magic, and reported that my project was fixed-the green light appeared!

I went to Lightworks to open the project and then realised that no media was recovered..

Any ideas?

btw, the Fixer is blocked by the Avira antivirus. I had to stop Avira in order to let the Fixer work.

GEORGAKAKIS, sorry you're having problems with this. I code using AutoIT and some AV programs think anything compiled with AutoIT is a virus.

Somewhere on one of your drives you will find a MATERIAL and SOUND folder that contain a bunch of link files. These link files contain references that point to your source files. My project fixer found those folders and either moved the link files it found from some other location into those folders or created new link files in those folders. For some reason, Lightworks is not finding those folders where the link files are.

First, find the location of those folders and note if they are folders directly off the drive letter or are sub-folders of another folder. In Lightworks, enter the project and go to the media management tab and add the parent folder of those folders or the root drive letter if they are folders directly off the drive letter. Close Lightworks and restart it and go to your project.

Hope this makes sense to you.

PS: you may have found a bug which I'll look into when time permits.

Thanx Khaver for your reply.

What type of files are supposed to be stored in the Material and Sound folders?
Cause all I find there is MOV files.

Tried to open them but they wouldnt. Did by any chance sthing changed their extensions somehow?

The ones that are only 512 bytes are just link files that contain the path to your source clips. That's how Lightworks keeps track of them. Any others of a different size are transcoded or copied local clips.

v0.5 update to my Lightworks Project Fixer.

The main update is the ability to re-link clips using this utility. A word of caution here. Re-linking using LwkProjFix will overwrite existing link files. Also, the only source clip path that is updated is in the link files. Any references to the source file path in the project database is not updated. Though this shouldn't effect the project if you re-link to the original source file(s), if you link to files that are different than the original source files, you may run into problems.

I removed the shot list button. Just double click on the project in the list.

This tool looks like it is just the kind of thing I could have used on a number of occasions. I went to use it and it gave me an error. Let me explain the environment a little.

I am running Windows 10, I have an SSD system drive which I pretty much only keep software on, and I do all my Lightworks stuff on the D:\ Drive in a file Folder called D:\Home Movies\ and my Lightworks Media Space is D:\Home Movies\Lightworks.

When I run Lightworks Project Fixer I get an error that says Project Folder cannot be found in the following locations, even though their are Project Files in those locations.?

I must be doing something wrong just can't figure it thanks

The program looks for the project folder in the default location on the c: drive. When I have a chance I'll add an option to browse to the folder.

Chinwagger, the link on the first post of this thread points to a new zip file containing version 0.6. This one will bring up a "Select folder" dialog if it can't find it in the normal locations, so you can browse to your projects folder.
I also fixed a bug so it should automatically find the project folder even when it's on a drive other than C:, so you may not need to browse anyway.
