Just upgraded to version 11 and I'm trying to import .MOV files from my DSLR. But I keep getting the message "Format unlicensed". I'm assuming it's because the codec is not available in the free version, but is there a way to just purchase the needed license or do I need to purchase the whole $60 version?
Thanks, John ---------- Update ----------- The solution was to upgrade to Pro version |

DSLR .MOV files are H.264, and that does require a licensed codec. No, you can't just buy a license for a single codec, sorry.

Hi
In the readme file it says that MTS files are supported in the free version. However my Canon MTS files showed "Format unlicensed". Does it mean that all H264 type files needs the pro version? Is there any detailed list of what codecs are supported in the free version? Thanks for a great software! shai |

You can transcode from .MTS files into one of the formats supported in the free version. All H.264 files require the Pro version to work natively.

Too bad, actually. But it's okay. I can stick with version 10, or I can convert the material, or I can upgrade to Pro of course. Don't get me wrong again, @Admin! I'm not angry, I'm not negative. I just wanted to say that this is a decision, I do not understand. |

The Beta version didn't work with h.264 natively. You can still transcode, which is what you did with the Beta version. If you are having issues, let us know.

I remember that I had to install QuickTime and then I was able to load my DSLR material. I've got a picture for you to prove it. I installed v10 again. As you can see I just used the "Create Link" option and LW imports my material very well. ![]()

Even when using the transcode option, I still get a "Format Unlicensed" message. (MTS H264 source)

There's a comparison table between Free and Pro on page 14 of the readme document. It shows all the supported formats.
