Welcome to the forum.

Frame rate : 34.271 FPS

Your video has a non standard target frame rate. Try using Handbrake to convert it to a standard one before importing into Lightworks. This sticky should assist with the settings: www.lwks.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=view&catid=23&id=166802&Itemid=81

Hello,

Thank you for the Mediainfo.

The non-standard frame rate is the most obvious candidate to explain the wrong duration.

Frame rate : 34.271 FPS
Minimum frame rate : 4.615 FPS
Maximum frame rate : 60.000 FPS

You can fix this by converting to a standard frame rate prior to import, e.g. 30 fps, with Handbrake, for instance. Here you'll find suitable settings:

Thank you for the quick response! I will try that and update accordingly.

As a note, iOS 'Record Video' setting is set to 1080p at 30 fps. So this is either an estimate. Or they follow a custom not adjustable setting for screen recording.

Some thoughts on that:

Screen recordings are more demanding than capturing directly from the build in camera. This might explain the quite dramatic deviation at the lower end, which isn't nice behaviour because it can create choppy motion.

In general, as multitasking multipurpose small devices, mobiles phones are not able to ensure a constant frame rate under all conditions. Nevertheless, technically there's no reason to record at non-standard frame rates. I consider something like this to be a bug of the recording software, or they simply don't care about video editing.

Some future version of Lightworks might be aware of non-standard frame rates and handle this kind of material correctly.

For the time being, maybe you can find some other recording app which records in variable frame rate, which is ok, but strictly at the adjusted target frame rate?

Thank you.

Update: Converting the video with the recommended Handbrake tool worked, now my full video is visible and editable with Lightworks.

About your thoughts; I'm using the default iOS screen capture tool available on the iphone. Any recommendations for an alternative app that might capture with better frame rates?

No, unfortunately not, not from my side. I even can't remember any discussion on this forum about apps for screen recording on mobiles.

If you decide trying some apps and can find one which works reliably at 30 fps, let us know.

My first video decoded with Handbreak was all good. But for todays' converted video the audio is slightly off. While it's good in the original file.

I tried to Lightworks to sync video with audio but no luck.

What's the best way to get this done?

Thank you again.

How to correct sync issues, if possible at all with reasonable effort, depends on the nature of the issue.

However, I'm not sure that you have one. Does the converted video show the sync issue when playing in normal media player?
