Hello,

I am continuing to have an issue with exports being "Pink" for seemingly no reason.

I have an input file recorded using OBS that is an MP4 1280 x 720 @ 60 FPS

I take this input file, trim only the start and end, and export it in H.264/MP4, 720p, at 60 FPS.

Some projects I create I trim and export and it turns out pink, others I trim and export and it doesn't turn out pink.

I can literally provide 2 files side by side, exported with the exact same settings, only in different projects, where one turned out pink and the other one did not.

Please let me know if there is something I can do about this or a way I can give more details that are helpful.

Whoops forgot PC info, this is the setup -
Ryzen 7 3700x
Vega 64
Windows 10 x64 Version 1903
Lightworks 14.5

Update: Okay so here we with something interesting, probably pretty much the best I can provide. I took the same input file, tried to edit it in one project, exported, pink, no matter how many times I tried.

Created a new project, imported the same file, edited it, exported it again, not pink.

Genuinely clueless on this one, here is a media info dump of all three files though.

Hello,

It's very good that you've found a way to reproduce this quite uncommon behaviour with two different sequences.

Please try: Convert the input file with most recent Handbrake 1.2.2 with the preset 'Production.Standard'. With Lightworks shut down, replace the original file with the converted, same location, filename, extension. Start Lightworks, export both sequences and see what happens.
It's better to travel well than to arrive...

Well hugly, looks like you are a wizard indeed. After I took the input generated by OBS as you said, ran it through Handbrake at that preset, replaced the original file, and re-exported, voila, no more pink export. Once the original file was converted through handbrake I was no longer able to reproduce the issue with it.

Here are all the media info's again as well -

Thank you for the feedback. Good to hear that converting helped.

Now, the question remains, what in the original file causes the pink export?

Would you mind sharing an exported archive of the sequence which creates pink, inlcuding the media, on a file sharing service of your choice, e.g. wetransfer.com/ ?

Sure I can share that. On the last one I did replace the original file that was creating the pink export with the encoded version, so I don't think I have that original anymore (unless I remembered to save it off somewhere). I could have sworn I recall reproducing this before using OBS and Lightworks as well though - with another input file I made in the same way, so maybe I'll again run into it sometime. Would the sequence that was created a pink export with the old input still work? I also still have one of the pink exports saved

Specifically, what I'm doing in OBS Studio is -
Creating a recording in MP4 format with both a Window Capture Source of a particular window (which is mirroring output from my oculus rift) and a desktop audio source from the rift audio output. For the recording settings it's MP4, "High quality, medium file size", and using AMD Hardware Encoding, 720p, 60fps

(For OBS the output mode is still on "Simple", I didn't really tweak much in those settings)

Swapping files back on OS level, with Lightworks shut down, shouldn't be a problem.

I use OBS for some short screen recordings and didn't have trouble so far with the x264 software encoder or the Nvidia NVEnc hardware encoder, both from Advanced settings. Unfortunately, I have no idea how reliable the AMD hardware encoder of OBS is, nor how to optimize its settings.
