I have made a video showing a spreadsheet, the video is just over 4 min. When I put it in lightworks, the screen turns black within the last minute, but you can still hear I speak. This does not happen when I play the video outside of lightworks.

I would like to have some background music and then have the video texted, so hope to find a solution to that SMIL from Denmark

Welcome to the forum.

Lightworks interprets the file as "15 fps Variable", mediainfo 24 fps. After import, the speeds are wrong.
I've converted your file to test with FFMPEG 24 fps and it works in Lightworks. Unfortunately, I could not post the file here in the forum.

Edit: I was now able to upload a highly compressed converted version in this forum.
:pinch: Warning: Spoiler!

I could send you better converted files via an external website like wetransfer.com ?
They have a larger file size.
Do you agree with the upload there?

Or you convert your file yourself?

As a side note: Remuxing the file attached above discloses the problem.

The original shows:

Frame rate : 24.000 FPS

The remuxed file shows:

Frame rate mode : Variable
Frame rate : 16.690 FPS
Minimum frame rate : 4.544 FPS
Maximum frame rate : 25.026 FPS
Original frame rate : 24.000 FPS

As a matter of interest, what application did you use to create this file?

I even changed the speed to 50, and then the speech fit.

I do not even customize my videos, because I do not know how to do, but need to learn it since I have several videos / screen shots I must have made.

i use this program here to make my screen recordings with www.apowersoft.dk/free-online-shields

Is there any other free program that is better?

Afterwards I have to have subtitles on so I will try to do in youtube.

I saw a beginner here and accept and listen to what you recommend.

Sorry if my English is not so correct, need to use google translate SMILE

There are many screen recorders for free. There's no need to buy one, unless you need very special functions away from pure recording.

One of the most frequently used free screen recorders is OBS Studio obsproject.com/ . It's very versatile, but due to its flexibility it needs some time to find out how to set it up for best performance and quality, depending on the application and the computer used.

If you wish trying OBS I can share some settings I use here for short demos, to start with.

I'm willing to try something new as long as it becomes easier to use lightworks and get text inserted into my videos

I thought you're asking for different screen recording software. If you are asking for another video editor which is easier to use than Lightworks, I can't help.

Yes - I would like to use something else for screen recording so I can make it work in Lightworks and not have to do so much about it to add text to it in lightworks.

It isn't that hard to add subtitles to a video in Lightworks. Do you have the subtitles in a text editor already and do you know the timing (start and end time)?

I found a video on youtube that showed little about how to set OBS for recording the screen.

then can I use the video I record with OBS, directly in Lightworks and then put the text on, or should the video first be Conventioned?

The workflow, basically: Use OBS for screen recording. It creates a video file. With suitable recording settings, this video is directly importable and editable in Lightworks, without converting with third party software. Then, after your editing work on the screen recording is finished (and the timing is fixed), you can add subtitles in Lightworks using one of the the Text effects in VFX mode. For simple subtitles and your first project, I'd suggest using the Titles effect. If finished, export to your file system and upload to Youtube.

The first step to prepare the subtitles is writing them down in a text editor in correct order and check for proper spelling, so you can copy and paste them later into the text effects.

Does that answer your questions so far?

I'll provide my OBS settings later.

The screenshots below show most recent OBS 23.10. The settings should work fine for capturing tutorials, even on not so powerful computers. If they don't, there are some adjustments which can be tweaked.

I've moved this into Codecs / Importing / Exporting / Transcoding, which would seem to be closer to the subject matter.
