I am trying to make a trailer of a movie for a project. I have the movie in mp4 format and will be using that. when i watch the video normally the audio is fine but when i import it into light works there are sync issues. its like the audio is playing slower than the video, at the start theres no delay but at the end there is a delay of like 5 seconds. whats going on here

Hi,

On a user forum you won't always get what you want and as soon as you wish.

Although it doesn't show doubtlessly, I believe that converting with VLC is the cause of your problem. Others have reported about trouble when using VLC as encoder.

Duration : 2 h 1 min
Source duration : 49 min 44 s

Can you explain that?

What is the history behind, is this a file captured with VLC or converted with VLC.

If it's converted, please post mediainfo of the source.

Thanks.

This source might make trouble with other converters as well, but worth a try.

Are you familiar with Handbrake and/or ffmpeg?

Ok, let's try Eyeframe Converter. It's easy to use and free. It will create significantly larger files, but a well editable format. I'm not sure it will accept this mkv file as valid import format.

You can give it a try, nonetheless. Here you'll find a suitable procedure: www.lwks.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=view&catid=6&id=118956&limit=15&limitstart=15&Itemid=81#119003

Create Link is the default method to import files. It will use the original source on it's orignal location. The other two, Transcode and Copy Local, will create new files in Lightworks internal media space (called Lightworks Media Locations). Those import methods should be used only for special purposes.

In "Local Files" tab of "Log" and "Edit" mode, you'll find lower left hand side the "Import" button. From drop down menu right of the "Import" button you can select import methods. It should show "Create Link".
