How are you supposed to save your work that is done?

Hello and welcome!

Lightworks autosaves continuously, even after a crash you'll loose only the last one or two editing steps.

If you wish saving your sequence at a certain state of editing (as often as you wish), the easiest way is making a copy of the sequence by using "Make.Copy" from timeline menu.

If you wish making a backup before deleting anything in the project use "Make.Backup" from project card upper left hand side. Project backups are also used to move projects to other computers, for archiving purposes and for disaster recovery (damaged hard drive or such). So, it's a good idea to make a backup from time to time.
It's better to travel well than to arrive...

When you've completed editing, you then export it.
