All,
Hope all is well...
I finally made a jump to Fedora 34 and I have to say it's pretty good on the hardware I am using. So I am glad I made the switch.

The issue I am having is when it is being installed.

Just using the rpm alone to install ( rpm -Uvh <lightworks-packagenem> or even just rpm install:

I get these list of dependencies even after installing the proprietary drivers manually.

______clipped from terminal________________
digitalrazor@fedora Downloads]$ sudo rpm -Uvh Lightworks-2021.2-Beta-128258.rpm
[sudo] password for digitalrazor:

To ensure all the dependencies are met I have to add RPMFusion repos (free and nonfree) then run the install using yum.

After installing the RPMfusion repositories then using yum... I get this:

___________clipped from terminal__________

what bothers me is the xorg-all-drv-nvidia-*
They are VERY VERY old... I will chalk this up to just some old repos from RPMFusion since the latest stable is 460.+

is their a more up-to-date repository that lightworks can use ? If so then I think it might be high time to update the version numbers since Fedora 20 has been EOL'd for quite some time.

Thanks for any and all help.

Sidenote: when I install Lightworks as stated above the program works but any other program that requires the later version of OpenGL it just crashes.. and really don't want to hack the death out of 34 just for some old drivers...

Thanks again.

Further investigation shows that RPMFusion DOES have nvidia drivers and CUDA drivers version 465.24.02-4.fc34....

Why would lightworks want to pull 390xx-390.143-2.fc34 ?

I run 450 and 460 on ubuntu with no issues..

Thanks again

Last update (Promise...at least until the "next big change" in Fedora...

To be clear:
RPMFusion does provide the necessities to get Lightworks up and running properly. However if you are like me and you use Blender or any other program that uses nvidia drivers and cuda you can run into issues.

Such as Blender NOT finding the CUDA or OpenCL drivers once installed..

to solve both issues I found this repo:

negativo17.org/multimedia/

followed the instructions here (based on needs )

negativo17.org/nvidia-driver/

and so far I have the performance I am expecting from bender and Lightworks is running happily..

If you want to marked this as "solved" feel free.
I just wanted to share my experiences for those making the move to Fedora 34 from a fresh install..

Thanks for allowing me to post issues and findings...

Best Regards

Thanks for posting them. Anything that is likely to help other users is always welcome.

By the way, you can mark this thread solved yourself if you wish. Just edit the first post and add [SOLVED] to the title.

FWIW

To preserve this valuable information for other users, it might be necessary to move the thread out of the beta forums at some point in order to prevent it from being hidden as soon as the recent beta forums are hidden from public access. Of course, I don't know if the habit from Editshare times of hiding old beta forums after a while still exists with the current owners, but writing this, I suspect it does.
It's better to travel well than to arrive...

Agreed. I hadn't picked that up.

This does not appear to be beta related, but to be on the safe side I will leave a link in the beta forums to this thread.

interesting, I can't see any reason why older nvidia drivers would be pulled in, except we don't explicitly require _any_ particular version as far as I can see

jwrl....
I was using the beta when I did this install..
So ... yeah .. I think it is still relevant to both beta testers and stable testers... I will mark it solved and let those put the information where it fits best.
Thanks ... you all are doing a wonderful job with this software.

I read that before giving the "college try" of figuring this out last I looked.. there is still some pulseaudio entrails in Fedora34..
for what its worth: I use KXStudio with JACK and have zero issues with that audio server.... I see that a new beta has been released.. going to give that a go now...

Thanks again .

", except we don't explicitly require _any_ particular version as far as I can see"

I think that line right there in quotes is the issue...

you can't install it on fedora 34 without using 'yum' or 'dnf' ( didn't try dnf yet ) but rpm -Uvh install <package_name> lists dependencies that are not available. Once you add the RPMFusion repos.. it just grabs the 390 drivers.. it works .. yes.. if that is the only app you want to run on a linux system and thats ok.. if you are happy .. keep on truckin' But if you continue with the install it just loads 390... like clock work.
I did do a manual install using RPMfusion's 460+ drivers.. same issue.. Further surfing lead me to the 'negativo17' repository and all issues seem to be solved.,

Lightworks is happy
Blender sees the CUDA drivers
and VLC and anything else that uses CUDA ( ffmpeg ) happy.. I do think this may help others that may have moved on to another distro and wishing they havent if that is what they are used to.

Thanks for reading.. on to the next beta.

For what it's worth, the beta build that this thread refers to is now the current release, version 2021.2.
