Hi, I have a double question regarding LWKS on Linux Ubuntu.

1) according to the recommended spec www.lwks.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=100&Itemid=211
minim requirement is Ubuntu/Lubuntu/Xubuntu 14.04 and higher

I have Ubuntu 14.04 on a system running LWKS 14.0

If I try to install the 2020.1 release I get the following error message:
no entry control.tar.gz in archive

2) I would rather install (for now) the 14.5 release, for which unfortunately I can no longer find the installer.

Reasons:
- upgrading Ubuntu trashes my system with video driver problems, I had to restore from image backup; several times.
- working on same projects in collab with another instance of 14.5 and avoiding backward compatibility issues with many saved projects (the no more frame rate selector in new project warning)

Thank you.

Hello,

The specifications on the page you've linked to haven't been updated for quite a while, as it seems. The current release notes tell:

Debian Distros:
○ Ubuntu/Lubuntu/Xbuntu 18.04 and higher
○ Mint 17 and higher

What exactly is your question?

Then clearly I can't use version 2020.1.

Where can I download version 14.5 from? (presuming it's compatible)

Personally, I would do everything necessary for moving to the current Ubuntu LTS release, instead of staying with Ubuntu 14.04, which is out of service since May 2019.

I cannot remember if Lightworks V14.5 runs on Ubuntu 14.04, it may or may not.

As far as I'm aware of, unless you have an Outright license, you cannot download earlier versions from this site. If you have an Outright license, you should see a tab named 'Archive' next to 'Demo' on the page 'Downloads' for downloading earlier version.

If you insist on trying to run V14.5 on Ubuntu 14.04, I can share the official package for download, unless Lwks staff chimes in and says No.

The archive doesn't contain any Linux 14.5 builds. It jumps from 14.0 to 2020.1. In fact the same applies to Windows and OS/X too.

I do have outright license, but I see no "Archive" tab under downloads section.

P.S. it's a good thing I saved the 14.5 win installer ...
Good thing, in case my system acts up.
With all respect, the today's update craze which besides the nuisance can also be more a headache then a blessing sometimes.

I've gone through several versions and builds, including several betas a few times. (also reported some bugs IIRC).

For some things I believe it is more important to have a known stable configuration.

Thanks anyway.

Btw, could you please update the OS requirements in the downloads section?

This is a user forum. We cannot update anything on the web site. Your post might or might not be noticed by LWKS officials. Perhaps, it's better to contact LWKS directly via the form Report a problem ?

P.S. it's a good thing I saved the 14.5 win installer ...
The Win V14.5 installer won't help you on Linux. As mentioned, I have the V14.5 Debian package and can share it, if you need it.

Strange. This is what the page looks like here:

Or does the archive disappear as soon as all activations are used up?

I see the same, no Archive tab, but I've no Outright licenses, just Year licenses, which have never shown this tab.

Could it be that on your account there's an expired 'Year' or 'Month' license side by side with an Outright license?

No, I did not aquire monthly/yearly license(s) besides the outright license.

However, IMO (technical) it shouldn't matter.

According to this post, with an outright license you should see the tab 'Archive', if you don't, perhaps a second point in your problem report to LWKS?

However, as schrauber's screenshot shows and jwrl has told, V14.5 isn't available for download there, currently.

Does it have something to do with the age of the account?
I have the oldest version in archive (11.5) with this account, at that time with the free license in use.

I've reported both things several days ago, thanks for the suggestion. Let's see what happens.
