The most simple and straightforward way to install lightworks on gentoo is as follows.

1. Install Layman
wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Layman

2. Add overlay
gpo.zugaina.org/media-video/lightworks

So for example at the time of writing the overlay with lightworks is
cg
so to add the overlay I would run
layman -a cg

3. Then you can just emerge the package as you would normally with portage.
emerge --ask media-vide/lightworks

Hi! I'm having an issue with openssl version, the lightworks-14.6-r1 installation requires dev-libs/openssl-1.0.2t-r1, but I have dev-libs/openssl-1.1.1d-r2 already, and I can't downgrade openssl for a slot conflict (a lot of packages require the 1.1.1d-r2 version). How could I resolve this issue?

If you don't mind trying the beta version that might work for you,

Thanks for your response, how could I install the beta version in Gentoo? seems like the overlay doesn't contain the beta version.

Try installing 2020.1 build 118883 directly without the overlay and see if that works for you.

Since your link points to the thread you first posted into and the link there points to this discussion, it's not clear what you did.

For others who might have the same question, could you explain what you did, step by step and installing which version finally fixed the problem?
It's better to travel well than to arrive...

Sure thing; I did this:

1. Follow above instructions, and check packages what you are missing (using the
--ask
command at
emerge
, it shows you what new packages should be installed).

2. Install those packages that you are missing, but without specifying a version (supposing that your system is running relatively new packages).

3. install rpm if it's not installed yet.

4. Download Lightworks Beta 2020.1 revision 118883.

5. finally, run
sudo rpm -i --nodeps --replacefiles --replacepkgs Lightworks-2020.1-Beta-118883.rpm
.

Hope this helps to other people
