Right, I have a problem with Lightworks version 14.0.0.0. It doesn't work. Audio no longer syncs properly, or reliably, with video. I can see a number of other people reporting this too. I realise you don't want to hear that. I realise you are going to want to troubleshoot it to exhaustion, but I'm more interested in getting on with my project and recovering a lost weeks' worth of work. I know my system works. I know all my work within 12.6 works. I know my raw video files are synced fine. I've paid for this and I've already lost a week.

Version 12.6 worked. I'd like to use 12.6 but I encounter the authentication problem. Is there a way around this?

Hi,

I would transcode the footage to MPEG2 I-Frame HD ar ProRes422 and use "Find clips to fill sequence" to replace.

I can imagine that this will fix your problem.

If it doesn't, come back, provide some information about your footage, your computer, and the edits you're working on and then maybe we will find the cause.

If you did everything correctly then, most likely, this can only be solved by Lightworks staff. You can use Report a problem form to get in contact. Due to the weekend this might take a while.

Sorry for being obviously grumpy and thanks for replying in spite of that.

I'm not clear on how I would transcode the footage, or whether I would want MPEG2 I-Frame HD or ProRes422. Or indeed, what "Find clips to fill sequence" is or where it is.

I may know how to import my videos, how to cut and edit them to my satisfaction, but beyond that I'm still pretty untested.

I'll be a bit more specific. I'm recording video files captured from a game. I've been doing this for a month or so, from the same game. Using the same settings and Lightworks 12.6. I have never seen a syncing problem in all the files I've imported until after 14.0 came out. That's why I'm annoyed. Occam's razor suggests, the problem is clearly 14.0. If I have to process my videos before importing them, that suggests 14.0 is a poor substitute for 12.6.

First of all, it would be interesting to know, what kind of sync problems did you encounter?

Is the audio speeded up, or does it drift away increasingly, or is it shifted? Does the problem exist only in preview or also in exported files? Does it happen only in projects created with V12.6. or also in newly created projects?

Basically, The audio is drifting around in places. I'm noticing mostly by bad lipsync. It's patchy. I was worried it was my captures. But they're fine. So it's the imported files in lightworks.

I never encountered this in 12.6. It's all in the same project I've been working for months. Everything before I switched to 14 seems okay (although I've not checked extensively - if they are, I'm going to be damn sight more miffed).

How did you check that your captures are fine?

I watched them outside of Lightworks.

I assume with a normal media player.

Would you mind to show a mediainfo report of one affected file as suggested by briandrys?

I come back to my original point: why in over 10 hours of footage have I not experienced this problem? Until, this past week, with Lightworks version 14.0?

Here is the problem, a variable frame rate:

Minimum frame rate : 3.165 FPS
Maximum frame rate : 63.762 FPS
Original frame rate : 60.000 FPS

V14.0.0. has fixed a lot of bugs of V12.6 and invented some new, but this issue isn't new at all.

The forum is full of discussions related to variable frame rate with V12.6.

I'll forego the dread and foreboding and ask what I need to do?

From what I can gather, I've got to muck around with an additional program to convert my videos to a fixed frame rate? Something I've not had to do for any of the identical files I have until now. It's going to add hours to my work and quadruple the amount of storage space I now need.

I can't help but notice my rating for Lightworks has gone from 5 stars to one between v12.6 and 14.0...

I realise this is my fault for not identifying this earlier, but this really has sucked the fun out of this entirely.
