Hey guys I am very far from knowledgeable on computer specs, I definitely know my here and there's and the basics but I'm having some issues. I have been editing on Lightworks for about 3 months now. I own the Outright Pro License and I just purchased a go pro. I filmed some short clips on there the longest video being only 1 minute and 9 seconds. My computer keeps freezing yet the audio keeps playing? When I open my task manager my CPU sky rockets to 100% so I'm like 99% sure I need a new CPU . I will mention the footage was in 120 frames (119.88) so it could just be my CPU simply can't handle it. I built this beauty about 6-7 years back but she runs like a beauty and had a graphics card upgrade a little over 2 years ago (GeForce GTX 1050 Ti - I believe its Super Super Clocked)

I'll provide gyazo images of my specs, If need be and I do need a new processor, please hook a brother up with a link or information on which processor would match my system and help it perform better. I don't have a lot of money so nothing super expensive please. I will be constantly be refreshing this forum all day so expect quick replies . Thank you everybody so much!

Hello,

GoPro cameras records in h.264, some newer models additionally in h.265. Both compression formats are not well suitable for video editing.

Prior to throwing money on hardware to fix a problem related to media formats, I'd suggest trying the internal proxy workflow:

After following your instructions I am receiving this error?

Am I making a minor mistake? I can even screen record and post it to show you what I am doing if that helps. Thanks for your reply!

The message "failure" when creating proxies from 120 fps footage could mean that you run Lightworks V14.5 and not the latest release, 2020.1.

Bottom center of the start screen, you'll find the version number.

Nope Should I reinstall? I will say what makes no sense is I used to sometimes get the error saying I to upgrade to the latest version yet I have the latest version of lightworks installed and made sure before purchasing the yearly license so I'm confused.

Could you post a Mediainfo report of the footage please?

Here is the file you were asking for I believe, thank you for all your help good sir. Is it possible there is an install error, for awhile I was getting a notification to upgrade to new version and I kept receiving it even after being on Lightworks 2020. I checked the box to not show it again assuming it was a simple problem but maybe not?

Thank you.

Format : HEVC
Width : 2 704 pixels
Height : 1 520 pixels
Display aspect ratio : 16:9
Frame rate mode : Constant
Frame rate : 119.880 (120000/1001) FPS

Although HEVC support is newly invented, proxy creation should work. I don't have any comparable clip here to test with. Would you mind sharing a sample of the same format on a file sharing service of your choice, e.g. wetransfer.com/ ?

Sure it says I need your email?

Edit: Never mind, will add link here in a second not familiar with the platform. Is there a way I can DM you the link? The client I'm editing for would prefer it to only be sent to one person when I asked him. He is a MMJ Patient and would just like his privacy, sorry to be so needy!

You can switch to the mode "Get transfer link", which doesn't need an e-mail address.

Your are welcome!

The failure is obviously caused by the compression format h.265/HEVC in combination with the video dimensions.

I'd suggest converting with Handbrake to h.264/AVC, which is more robust anyway. Here you'll find suitable settings.

www.lwks.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=view&catid=23&id=166802&Itemid=81#209009

If you don't need the 120 fps for slow motion, consider changing the frame rate to 24 fps (or 30 fps, depending on your project frame rate) when converting. Down-scaling to 1920x1080 can also makes sense, unless you intend watching the results on a 4K display.
