To finalize this one from my side, this is what I said:
hugly wrote: I can confirm that it has been announced that the next release, "2020.1" (based on the current beta), will be included in the V14 license. It's likely that its successor, whatever it may be called, e.g. "2020.2" or "2021", will need a new Year/Month or an upgrade to an existing Outright license. |

That's untrue, and will mislead users reading that. It isn't the case now, and it never has been since the subscription scheme was introduced. The only people affected by a major version update are outright licence holders, no one else. Because you insist on perpetuating your mis-truth I have locked this thread. |

Hi All,
I found this old thread but it was locked and I cannot comment on it. (same issue) www.lwks.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=view&catid=21&id=215283&Itemid=81#ftop I have this error message come up when installing the latest version on Windows 10 machine. I dont have such a folder called documents in the public folder, and when I try to create one manually it asks to merge with "public documents". I have contacted my work IT support and they say I have full permissions for the public folder and cant offer any help other than contact the forums. I have attached screenshot of the error. Can anyone help?

I have unlocked that thread and merged your post with it. Have you tried any of the solutions suggested?

Yes, Bitdefender is scripted to lock any personal file which may contain personal details. It comes under the umbrella of Ransomware protection et al.

Hello,
It's not unlikely that some security software blocks access to C:\Public\Documents\Lightworks. I understand that you run your Windows installation in an environment managed by some IT-service. Is your computer attached to a company network? How does your IT service comment this finding? I dont have such a folder called documents in the public folder, and when I try to create one manually it asks to merge with "public documents". |

Saludos...
Google Translate: If you have Windows 10 64 Bit, disable Windows Defender during Installation. You will then be able to install LW. Once it's installed, log into Lightworks with your username and password and you should have no problems. When you have verified that you can log in to your Lightworks account: DO NOT FORGET TO ACTIVATE WINDOWS DEFENDER (NATIVE WINDOWS ANTIVIRUS) AGAIN. Cheers... |

Hello,
If it is the same problem, it should be fixable by the same solutions, those mentioned earlier. |

Thanks Hugly, I am not sure which solutions have been mentioned? There is ample space on the computer. I have checked and folder protections is off. I have tried various ways to install with fresh downloads, cleaned cache and cookies, virus and firewall off. Nothing seems to be working. I have tried with another video manipulation software recommended by Windows, that to does not install.

The error shows clearly that something on your system block write access to the folder "C:\Users\Public\Documents\Lightworks\Images".
Unfortunately, I cannot say what it is, because I don't know your local installation and configuration. The usual candidates are "Windows Controlled Folder Access" and any kind of third party antivirus and so called security software. It isn't very likely that wrong static folder access rights are the cause, but checking those first doesn't hurt much either. |

Jose, thanks for suggestion. It is good that it worked for you but unfortunately (for me) it stalled, not installed, pausing at the same png file as before.

Try the install again but skip that file. If it's the only one that fails then the problem is easily remedied. I've attached a zip file that contains just the background files that should be in the image folder. Simply unzip the file that you need from the zip into that folder.
And if that does fix the issue it sounds like you may have a corrupt LW installer. Zip file removed - the problem was much bigger than a missing PNG file. See below - jwrl. |

Thanks jwrl, there are many files skipped to complete the install - see list below. Yes install completes, and an icon appears on the desktop, but program does not load. This is not an isolated corrupt LW installer. I have deleted and downloaded many times with and without Windows Defender antivirus and firewall.
