Problem:
/usr/lib/lightworks/ntcardvt: error while loading shared libraries: libjpeg.so.8: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Solution:
Download and install the latest Lightworks 14.6. Note: since revision 117868 Lightworks has got support for Ubuntu 19.04:
  1. sudo dpkg -i Lightworks-14.6.0.0-Beta-117868.deb
  2. sudo apt-get -f install
  3. OK, let's start it:
  4. cd /tmp
  5. wget archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/libj/libjpeg-turbo/libjpeg-turbo8_2.0.1-0ubuntu2_amd64.deb
  6. mkdir libjpeg
  7. dpkg --extract libjpeg-turbo8_2.0.1-0ubuntu2_amd64.deb libjpeg
  8. ls libjpeg/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libjpeg.so.8.2.2
  9. The last command you should get in response:
    libjpeg/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libjpeg.so.8.2.2
    Ok, let's continue:
  10. sudo cp libjpeg/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libjpeg.so.8.2.2 /usr/lib/lightworks/
  11. sudo ln -s /usr/lib/lightworks/libjpeg.so.8.2.2 /usr/lib/lightworks/libjpeg.so.8
  12. lightworks

Profit!
