Good question.

I wonder what is the reason for asking this in relation to Lightworks?

I suspect that there aren't many people on the forum using a Quadro K5000 with Ubuntu.

Referring to official publications, proprietary drivers are recommended for all kind of NVidia GPU's. For a rough comparison of performance of different drivers/versions you can use 'Hardware.GPU tests' from system settings.

Do you have some kind of special problem?

I don't understand what 'nice' means in this context.

Do you show a virtual machine or is your hardware configured as a Quadro 5000 driven by
some dual core with 4 GB of memory?

Please be aware, decoding/encoding, all file I/O, memory transfer and the GUI are managed by the CPU, only scaling, display and effects by the GPU. In other words, the main worker is the CPU, not the GPU.
