Does anyone know which version of matrox utiles work with Windows 10 and Lightworks 14, and where I can get them as the 2 versions I have don't work.

My lovely old Lightworks system on a HP Z800 with Windows 7 (service pack 1, never connected to the internet or upgraded) completely died, so I now have a Z820 with windows 10.

After a near heart attack at how horrible it looked, I have deleted all the Disney stuff and games etc from the desktop and installed many of my favorite tools and multi versions of Lightworks, but cannot get my old MX02 working.

Matrox support says here in 2015:

We do not support Windows 10 with the latest Mtx.utils 8.0 drivers, however, if you do decide to upgrade you can try out the 8.0 driver on Windows 10 at your own discretion.

There are no plans to support Windows 10..

V14.5 RC8 release notes say under Windows Specific Fixes and Features:

Added support for the last Matrox MXO2 drivers 8.0.0.15342

Time to test?

W10 was originally W8 with a new GUI, although it has changed considerably since its release. It would still be worthwhile trying that driver though.

Don't know about MX02 drivers but in earlier versions of LW14 my Matrox XMIO cards didn't work. LW had intended those drivers would be part of the Matrox drivers embedded in the software - they were not - the solution - LW reverted to addressing stand alone XMIO drivers - perhaps something similar is at work with MX02 drivers??

I continue to spruik this free software www.oo-software.com/en/shutup10

So far seems to have the ability to convert the Dizzyland Win10 experience into a dumb terminal which does not communicate with HAL - a stand alone workstation never needing updating. Isn't that what you had??

This "xxxxxxx xxxxx xxxxxxx" link above looks very suspicious.

Edit: Same as all other links posted by carlajiji in other threads.

I agree completely. User carlajiji has now been banned and their posts deleted. I have also deleted the name of the link from your post so that they get no publicity at all.

--- and for the faint hearted. The publisher, O&O Software, is a "Gold Microsoft Partner" whatever that may imply; so this free application is not a dodgy brothers con-act.

My MX02 has kicked the bucket - blue light flashes and there is no access to the unit. Tried a new power supply but to no avail. Any ideas as to what is the best alternative to MX02 which is no longer on the market would be greatly appreciated.

Without knowing what you use it for, the best replacement for an MX02 which "kicked the bucket" is a used one which hasn't yet.

One presumes you've tried the customary unseat/reseat of the host card??

Otherwise go internal just about any BMD I/O card compatible with an HPZ820.

Or - I'm pretty sure I still have an early MXO2 as I recall used on an Avid for a couple of months - that's not likely to be used again - you could have that - but don't know if I'd be able to find the aforementioned host card.

Email me if that's of interest - could put it in a Yellow Express bag on Monday

I would also suggest a Black Magic card. I bought a 4k version this past spring on eBay for about half price.
I work in Manhattan, USA, but at night I cross the waters to sleep in Brooklyn, USA.

Also, post production is not an afterthought!

Thanks Arnie. I'm ok for a matrox MX02 and I have access to Black Magic alternatives as well. Again thanks for your help.
Cheers.
