Hello,

I am trying to use LW on a cloud machine (windows dataserver 2016)

There is no audio device on this machine, The audio service can be started, but without a sound device, LW refuses to open.

I have tried using virtual audio cable program, but no dice.

Is there anyway to run LW without sound altogether? I just need to do some minor editing and sound will not be necessary.

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum.

I suspect that even the Windows Dataserver 2016, makes it unlikely.

Here are the operating systems that support Lightworks.

Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1 and Windows 10
Linux Supported Debian Distros:
Ubuntu/Lubuntu/Xubuntu 14.04 and higher
Mint 17 and higher
Linux Supported RPM Distros:
Fedora 20 and higher
Mac OS X 10.9 - 10.12

Hello,

Thanks for the super quick response. And yes I was unsure about the OS, but it seems to have installed just fine, looks like it would launch if not for the popup saying I have no audio device.

I just need to either disable the check for audio device (going to assume no one knows how to do this probably) or somehow trick it into thinking there is one.

Hey, I found the solution nevermind.

I had to play around with the RDP session and slide the local audio back and forth between remote and local, seems to work. I also enabled microphone on remote machine. booted up fine with no sounds. thanks anyway.
