Hello All
I've just created my first video and am in the process of trying to export it to Youtube. A: it's taking AGES and B: why does the process (orange line) continue long after the end of the video has ended. Should I have to indicate, somehow, the end point of my video? Thank you!

Further to my message just posted, my export failed. I followed all the instructions from the great tutorials, but I must need to do something else once my video is complete, before exporting? Thank you!

Hello,

Ages is relative.

The first half of the progress bar indicates rendering and encoding the video to a file on the local file system. The second part shows upload in progress. The duration of the upload depends on the speed of your internet connection and the file size. With an ADSL connection the bitrate upstream is much slower than downstream. For instance, I have a connection with 120 Mbps downstream, upstream it provides only 6 Mbps.

Edit: For example: On 720p30 Youtube export, Lightworks creates a video bitrate of appr. 6 Megabits per second. When using a connection with e.g. 2 Megabits per second, the upload will take at least 3 times the video duration to finish. After the upload has finished, Youtube starts re-encoding the video, which can take quite a while too.

I missed your second post while typing the above.

The export failed. What error message did you see?

Thank you for your reply.
I’m not sure if I’m making myself clear. When uploading/exporting my video to YouTube the orange line (uploading) continues even though my video has finished. Therefore, during the uploading process, it seems to be uploading black or blank material and doesn’t finish when my video ends. So, it hasn’t picked up when my video has ended. Is there something that I need to do to indicate when my video has finished? Thank you.

Does the local export option work on your local drive?
"Media files" > "H.264/MP4 (free)"

You didn't answer my question.

Thank you; I’ll have to look on my return, but thanks very much - that might be the reason.
