TOPIC: Video goes black, audio okay

Video goes black, audio okay 1 week, 5 days ago #221194

I am relatively new to Lightworks, so forgive me if I don't present this problem clearly enough. I have a video clip (MP4, about 30 minutes, 106.7K file size) which plays fine in other applications, but when it gets to about 27:56, the video goes black, but the audio continues fine to the end. I was using it in pieces in a larger project when I discovered this, so I tried a new project with just this clip, and I encountered the same problem. The video was recorded on a smartphone, in case that makes a difference. Many thanks to anyone who can help, and please be detailed and explicit with any further information/screenshots you need to better understand the problem.

Hello,

Something like this is usually caused by non standard frame rates.

Could you post a Mediainfo report of the footage, please? Here you'll find directions:

Thank you.

Here is the problem:

Frame rate : 27.309 FPS

I'd suggest converting with Handbrake to a constant standard frame rate, e.g. 30 fps. Here you'll find suitable settings:

I appreciate your help, but that didn't fix the problem. :/

Strange.

Would you mind sharing the original clip on a file sharing service of your choice, e.g. wetransfer.com/ ? I would see if I can find the problem and a fix.

Thank you.

Could you share a Mediainfo report of the converted file as well, please?

Anyway, instead of waiting for the Mediainfo report to see what's wrong, I converted your file with three variants of the settings I published in the thread I've linked to above. All create synced and well editable results with the expected duration.

You can download the converted file here: we.tl/t-7BPQ7usPY4

I used the settings described in this post to convert for moderate file size.

Thank you! It's been one of those non-stop days, so couldn't get time for the mediainfo. I'll check out the conversion settings and try that for future clips. Thanks again!
