TOPIC: Performance issues

Performance issues 1 month ago #213773

So far I am using the free version. I have a macbook pro 2019 with 2Tb ssd 16Gb. I added a 8 minute clip mp4 and my fan is roaring and it's taking forever to position the clips. I don't believe this is normal. What am I doing wrong>

I added a clip and it has been on the beachball now for 12 minutes.

The bit rate is extremely low for 4k media.
Typical would be about 100 times the bitrate.

This indicates extremely strong compression of very static frames, with very few reference frames, so that decoding is a lot of work.

One solution could be the internal proxy workflow:

EDIT: If the import already causes considerable problems, or export problems occur, other solutions must be chosen.

I doubt that this file shows anything meaningful in a normal media player.
It's better to travel well than to arrive...

Proxy works but that is a lot of prep with multiple clips. I got the clip with clipgrab from youtube. Is there some way to optimize my clips for use in lightworks?

After importing many clips, you can highlight multiple clips, choose Create Proxies, and let Lightworks do the work while doing something else.
Of course it takes time.
