Is there anybody who knows how to create a copied sections of a sequence with invalid sequence TC, a section which shows question marks on the timeline ruler?

It isn't the first time I have seen this, but I'm referring to this discussion. The OP provides a project folder which shows hundreds of those sections (at some point deleted all at once), without knowing how they have been created.

Maybe these ??????? don't mean that the TC is invalid but instead, there is no timecode?
In this case, I think it will be difficult to generate one out of Lightworks.

If you know how to create a copy of a marked section of a sequence which shows questions marks on the timeline ruler, please share the workflow.

No, I also don't know. I just wanted to put it into question, that the timecode would be invalid if presumably it's just not there at all.

I think `hugly` means the sequence timecode, which is normally created automatically, regardless of the contents of the timeline (even if the timeline is empty).

`timzett`, you probably mean the primary timecoder of the media in the sequence timeline.

That's true. Slight misunderstanding

Any idea how this can happen, in particular with newbies on the controls?

My premium suspect is trimming - Some not intended weird trimming action which destroys the source sequence in a way that a copy shows invalid sequence TC, but I don't know what to do to make it happen.

Is this perhaps the result of projects created with the "Auto" project frame rate, and which created cuts to sub-frame positions in certain workflows (at least in some versions of Lightworks)?

Off topic: schrauber, does 'Find.References' executed on clips/subclips work for you?

OT: It seems to work in Lightworks version 14.5, which is relevant for this forum category. However, I rarely use it directly on clips / subclips.

Yes, now that you say it, I see with V14.5 it works fine.
