Hi,

what file types can be used that come from normal, modern cellphones? LAst time i tried i could not import my video files to the timeline (made on google pixel phone).

Otherwise love the program, so would be nice to be able to import something

kind regards,
Lander

is there a reason why mp4 is not included?
and is there a way to convert mp4 to any of these?

MP4 is a container, not a codec, yes it is supported.

Wide Container support

MXF OP1a
MXF OPAtom – P2
MXF OPAtom - native Avid support
Quicktime
AVI
.mts
.m2ts
.m2t
.mpg
.mp4

To find out more about your phone video please follow the directions here: www.lwks.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=view&catid=23&id=66072&Itemid=81

However, before doing so, please ensure that you're using V14.5, which supports variable frame rates (as found on phones), with VFR selected in the video tab of the project menu in the top left corner.

The link to MediaInfo leads to a page to download Lightworks. And i do have version 14.5.0.0
Why does every context i use my phone video's in not complain or struggle with the file format.. and an actual video program cannot handle it?

The link above leads to information on how to download and post a Mediainfo report, at least it does for me.

The tone of your last post suggests that the easiest solution for you is this: Use the context which doesn't complain to edit your video.

it is an app for my phone that doesnt complain. 3 dollars. not a problem. the problem is that it is on my phone... not serious for editing.
The other context are video players etc. sending to people.. a simple mail program can read the video. Not a single place that cannot read the video, except lightworks that i have invested time in to learn, and since i installed it on my new pc cannot read a simple mp4

above are the details, extracted with MediaInfo.

I did select "yes" for "apply VFR correction" in the video tab under project options within the lightworks program version 14.5.0.0

I also tried with a video i downloaded from youtube (so not from my phone), wich also comes as an MP4. Same problem: "importing - format unsupported" is the popup i get when trying to load the file from local files.

Thank you for the information.

From mediainfo I don't see any obvious reason why this file should show "format unsupported".

Please create a new project, choose 'Frame rate' '30 fps' when creating, try importing. If you still see "format unsupported", try converting the file with recent Handbrake 1.2.2. Use the preset 'Production.Standard', and on the 'Video' tab set 'Framerate(FPS) to '30', instead of default 'Same as source'.
It's better to travel well than to arrive...

That didn't work.
but as a last attempt to get it to work, i reinstalled. Save version.
Now it works. Still with those settings recommended above.
So what was the problem really? no idea.
