To the experienced.

For project organisation, I want to move some projects from local project space, to shared project spaces, as they are. It's the same computer name, the same machine number, the same pro license, the same user, even the same local hard drive. After moving the projects, either by moving the project folders or via backup, all sequences are locked and can't be unlocked. I have to make a copy of all sequences to gain access, which I find weird.

There must be a way to unlock. Does anybody know the hack?

the same user

Sequences generated in local projects are not assigned an owner at all, and the shared-projects logic is not expecting to handle that scenario. I'll see what can be done.

Thank you very much.

If not easily changeable, multiple local project spaces (without user restrictions) would be a solution to the problem, as well.

I'll see what can be done.

It's now possible to acquire the lock for non-shared sequences which have been unarchived in shared projects (in the next build)

Too condensed wording maybe? In fact, saying "great! I meant, I truly appreciate this great new feature, implemented in such an amazingly short time.

@hugly-- Mr. White on many occasions has implemented fixes for user-identified issues, and I’ve marveled at the incredibly brief intervals between the identification of those issues by users and Mr. White’s announcements that the fixes of them have been made.

As one who has become interested in this fascinating art and science of film editing late in life – and realizing I could never become anywhere near an equal of those professionals in the field – it is fact that, if I came across Great White at some place and some time, I would say, “Hello, Mr. White,” and an out-of-this-world dream that he would reply, “Hi, kid. You can call me ‘Great.’”

It works and it's very beneficial for what I do here.

Again, that's great, Great White, thank you for this feature.

Thanks for implementing this feature! I m just trying it out using a shared project space to work on a project from 2 different computers.

I have some unexpected behaviour there, not sure if it s a bug or if i do not understand the process correctly...:

When I create a sequence it is owned by the user (lets say its user1). then when i click on the owner / lock symbol (that is green) it automatically switches to another user (User2) and it becomes red and I cannot edit the sequence anymore nor undo. it just happens by one click.

what would i do to not have owndership get into my way of editing from two computers (as i am never editing at the same time, for what the ownership lock is intended i think)?

Multiple local project spaces, each with its own media space would be a good concept for "Lightworks to go", in the future.

Do you really see a user name or do you see the hostname displayed as owner?

I would think that, if you don't intend running both machines in the same network, if both machines would have the same hostname, it should be possible to unlock the sequences anytime on both sides with V14.6 beta. I don't know which role the machine number plays, but same hostname could be the next step to try on your way to "Lightworks to go".
