Running 2020.1 revision 122068, on Ubuntu 20.04, on a 2008 iMac.

I'm working on a project and certain clips have started to lose half of their stereo audio track when I put them on the timeline. I've looked at both the sources and the proxies and the relevant clips -- they are fine, and they behaved fine in LW before this arose.

The problem repeats consistently for the clips in question, and across LW sessions.

What might cause this? Can I repair or fix this?

This shows the problem occurring as I tried to fix it following hugly's advice here.

The log appears to show a regular shutdown without even entering a project.

I don't know exactly what your timeline shows. Are you trying to double stereo audio or do your clips have 4 audio channels?

I was trying to reconstruct the sequence's stereo audio track using your method in the post I linked to.

I think the log is showing an accidental startup -- I clicked LW when I didn't mean to -- and the shot is from an earlier session. I've attached the Backup logs in case you or anyone else is interested.

If you clip has only stereo audio, I don't understand what the audio on A3 and A4 (the deselected tracks) is?

It is/was the original stereo track from the first assembly of the sequence.

That makes no sense to me. What do you need it for?

I don't, really. It was just there at the time of the shot.

I'm not absolutely sure that the problem is related to this, but it's at least very likely. Make a copy of the sequence, if you wish to preserve the current state, remove the tracks A3, A4 and try replacing again.

Right. I tried that. The problem continues.

Very strange.

The error logs don't help much in this case.

Again, just to verify whether I've understood what happens. Your source has two audio channels and when you press the B-key (or the symbol on the viewer) to replace from source into target with all tracks enabled only the first channel is replaced? Furthermore, this worked earlier as expected, but now it doesn't work anymore?

I have no idea what that could be caused by.

Please switch to LOG mode, open one of the clips which show this strange behaviour in the viewer and press the B-key to create a new sequence. How many tracks has the newly created sequence?

Only two: V1 and A1.

And -- very weird! -- LOG > Metadata shows only those.

Ok, so we were looking at the wrong place.

I've never seen that Lightworks changed the imported media format. However, due to obviously significant changes on the internal logic with 2020, this release sets the knowledge about existing issues more or less to zero.

Could you post a Mediainfo report of this clip, create a new project, import just the clip, and see what track layout it shows after importing?

CORRECTION!

Looking at the source files and the proxies now, I see that *some* files have stereo tracks, others mono. Weird. And sloppy.

But mono shouldn't mean that LW only fills one track, should it?
