When I select a video in the edit tab and press play, I only see like half a second and then it freezes. What could I do?

The standard workflow for such cases is to create and activate internal proxies: www.lwks.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=view&catid=217&id=194770&Itemid=81#194787

Did you follow that point as well?
To enable proxy editing, set 'Project.Video.Output.Playback media quality' to 'Lowest available' .

If not, then we found your problem.

If yes, please enlarge the preview window very much to see differences well (stopped playback). Now switch between lowest quality and highest quality. Can you see differences in quality? (maybe move the playhead one frame to force an update).
EDIT: Finally, switch back to the lowest quality

If you don't see a difference, then the proxies were probably not created or incomplete.

If you see differences, then the proxy is active at this position and further investigation is necessary (effects? , other project settings, Lightworks version ...).

Ok, I skipped that point, now creating a proxy and setting the lowest available quality I can see the video in the editing tab. Thank you very much!!!!
